Here are just a few cool experiences our students had exploring how it would be to experience life in someone else's shoes! Thank you to Jackie Mason for spearheading once again this year. It's been an amazing experience for all of us.
4th grade Journeys into American Indian Territory It took many people carrying materials up and down stairs with me, but it was worth is! Thank you Mr. Brown, Ms. Friedberg and Ms. Miro for helping early this morning. Our fourth graders took a journey into American Indian territory today. Using an arts approach as exemplified in a moving museum and hands-on workshops, representatives of the Journeys Into American Indian Territory organization guided students to explore the components of culture of the Native Peoples of the Eastern Woodlands and Plains.
Huge shout out to our Siwanoy PTA for continuously supporting this incredible program.
Our 2nd graders try to "Stump the Principal" in Number Hive Our second graders challenged Mr. Johnson to a game of Number Hive. Using subtraction or addition you try to connect four cells together in this fun game. ![]()

Please register your incoming kindergartener as soon as possible as it helps us to get a handle on the number of kindergarten classes we will need in the upcoming school year. We really appreciate those of you who have already registered. Kindergarten registration 2025
News from our school nurses: Congratulations to Aisling Myers on the birth of her gorgeous angel, Pearse Dermot, Born - 1/9/25, Weight - 7lbs. 7oz. We just think that he is the cutest little leprechaun ever. Welcome back, Nurse Myers!National Nutrition Month® is an annual campaign established in 1973 by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. During the month of March, everyone is invited to learn about making informed food choices and developing healthful eating and physical activity habits. This year's theme is "Food Connects Us." Food is a connecting factor for many of us. Food connects us to our cultures, our families and our friends. Sharing a meal is an opportunity to learn about its preparation, who made it and where the ingredients were sourced. Health, memories, traditions, seasons and access can all impact our relationship with food. While these factors influence the foods we eat, the foods we eat also affect our health. Here are some ideas you can do at home: -As a family, commit to trying a new fruit or vegetable each week during National Nutrition Month®. -Give family members a role in meal planning and let them pick out different recipes to try. -Plan to eat more meals together as a family during National Nutrition Month®. -Explore food recovery options in your community. -If you watch TV, take breaks during commercials to be physically active. -Practice mindful eating by limiting screen time at mealtime — including phones, computers, TV and other devices. -Try more meatless meals — choices like beans and lentils are versatile plant-based protein sources that work in a variety of dishes. -Let everyone help with food preparation — a valuable skill for people of all ages. If you have kids, there are age-appropriate tasks they may enjoy learning how to do. -Bring out the flavors of food by trying new herbs, spices or citrus fruit such as lemon or lime. |
