Dear Siwanoy Families,

November is here! Where does the time go? Our Halloween Parade was a huge success. Thank you to the Dad's Club for your contribution at the end of the parade. Also, thank you to everyone who came out to support our Halloween parade. (First grade team pictured).

As the weather becomes colder, please begin to dress your children accordingly as we will continue to go outside for recess, snack, etc.

Lastly, when entering and exiting the school, please be sure to check in and out with Ms Riccio at the main entrance. When you leave the school, please only use the main entrance to allow Ms. Riccio to properly sign out; unless told otherwise. Thanks!

Candy collection for Troops and HOPE

The Siwanoy Dads will be collecting Halloween candy for the Veterans, Troops and HOPE Community Services. Candy can be dropped off in the main hallway during school hours. Thank you to the Student Diversity Committee for helping to live the word of last month- Thoughtfulness.

Diwali at Siwanoy will be held on Thursday, November 9th from 3:15-4:45pm in the Siwanoy Gym. Join us for an afternoon of crafts, samosas and a Diwali performance and dance workshop with the Ajna Dance Company. Please RSVP.

Siwanoy University Continues

Thank you again to Ms. Weaver and for all that attended our last Siwanoy University. The event was a huge success. So much so, that we are planning another one for December 11th. Do you have questions about MTSS? In a nutshell, Pelham School District strives to provide the highest quality of education to every student. To meet this goal, we have adopted a three-tiered approach to instruction nationally known as Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). This approach provides interventions to students who are not meeting grade-level standards based on multiple measures. MTSS is a means to intervene early in the general education setting with increasing intensity to help the student. Should your child require additional support in the future, our interventionists will be in touch regarding a pull-out literacy or math group during the W.I.N. block. Bring your questions. Everyone is welcome. Executive Functioning Recap

Socktober at Siwanoy

Every night in the United States an estimated 600,000 people live on the streets. Socks are the MOST requested and LEAST donated item. We want to join forces to prove that even the smallest acts of love and kindness, like donating a new pair of socks, can make a BIG difference in the lives of our neighbors in need. Please donate a NEW pair of socks and place it in the bin in the upstairs hallway. Donations will be collected through Thanksgiving!

Word of the Month - Appreciation

To appreciate means to recognize the good qualities of someone or something. We can show appreciation for many things in our lives, including family, friends, health, and opportunities and experiences. Being appreciative also means being grateful and thankful.  We sure are grateful to all of our book fair volunteers. Special shout out to Sarah Yarnall for spearheading. It was a tremendous success. Thank you so much for your tireless dedication to our school and students. We really do appreciate you.

Upcoming dates:

11/6 - Day 5

11/7 - Day 6 Election Day

11/8 - Day 1

11/9 - Day 2 Diwali celebration in the gym
