Friday Update 5/19/2023

Dear Siwanoy families,

Happy Friday! The Building Bridges program continues to be a huge hit here at Siwanoy. Our students have been enriched beyond words and have learned things about acceptance and inclusion in a way that will have a lasting impact on them forever.

I would also like to thank our incoming kindergarten parents for bringing their little ones to be screened for kindergarten this week. Your children are already fitting right in and we are looking forward to welcoming them into the family this September.

Lastly, please be reminded that we will not have school next Thursday and Friday. When we return to school on Tuesday, May 30th, we will be following a Day 2 schedule in school.

5th Grade Field Day - May 24th

Our 5th graders will have their annual district-wide field day on Wednesday, May 24th. They are all very excited!

Spring Fling - June 2nd

Save the date for Spring Fling!

• When: Friday, June 2, 5:30-8:30 PM
• Where: Siwanoy Playground
• Who: All students, parents, teachers, siblings, caregivers, and incoming families - anyone who is part of the Siwanoy community
• What: Our very own carnival with bounce houses, face painting, games, class art auction, kids' raffle, Parent Party sign-ups, Cake Wars, prizes, food, and more!

Ticket sales will begin next week.

STEAM Fair - May 23rd

Our STEAM Fair this year will be held on May 23rd. Please feel free to come join your child in their classroom to learn about a topic they inquired about. Using the Pelham Inquiry Model, our students will explore a topic and try to come up with a solution to an agreed upon "problem". Please see below for the times of each grade. Also, please note that we have to stick to the times to make the schedule work (30 minute blocks). I will give five minute warnings throughout the day to let everyone know when their grade level is finishing up.

4th grade - 9:00-9:30

1st grade - 10:20-10:50

3rd grade - 12:30-1:00

5th grade - 1:10-1:40

Kindergarten - 1:50-2:20

2nd grade - 2:30-3:00

Kids Vote Winner

During the school budget vote, there was also a "Kids Vote" for a special day at school. I am happy to announce that Pajama Day was the winner. So, on Tuesday, May 30th, all four elementary schools will be honoring Pajama Day! Seems like a nice way to come back to school after a break!

Siwanoy Fun Day - June 22nd

Our 3rd annual Siwanoy Fun Day will be held the morning of June 22nd. Please be on the lookout for volunteer requests from our PTA as we always need the extra help.

Please do not forget to order our latest student-designed t-shirt! To purchase one for your child click here - they are the super soft bella + canvas Jersey shirt and can be ordered in youth and adult sizes. Orders will be delivered by early June and will be perfect for our annual Siwanoy Fun Day!

Sing along with Mr. Vamos - Kindergarten thru Third grade - June 6th

Parents of grades K-3, please join us on the playground for some fun in the sun through singing. It may be very sunny so please wear a hat and some shades! Please see below for times:

Kindergarten and 1st grade - 10:45-11:15
